what a strange power there is in clothing.

With parties, award ceremonies, and galas galore, there has been an abundance of amazing fashion lately! Here are a few of my favourite recent examples.

Selena Gomez continues to prove herself as a red carpet fasionista with this beautiful look. The metallic bodice and whimsical, fluttery skirt look amazing together. She manages to look both sexy and sweet. With no accessories and a nude pair of heels, she really lets the outfit speak for itself.

Emmy Rossum wows with a gorgeous tangerine lip colour, and this blue one-shouldered dress. Her dark blue clutch perfectly accents the bright colours. The dress is both flowy and flattering. What initially struck me about this red carpet look, was how perfectly that lip colour looked with her dress. This is truly an example of getting it right!

At the premiere of The Lorax, Taylor Swift brought her signature brand of sweet, playful fashion to the red carpet. I love the soft pink colour of the dress, as well as the shape and length of the skirt. She looks so sweet and pretty! What also really struck me about this dress, is the neckline! It is so unique and different - and perfect to promote a Dr Seuss movie!

Lily Collins has quickly become one of my favourite actresses. Not only is she beautiful and talented, but she has the best fashion sense! I love everything about this outfit. The skirt is absolutely beautiful for starters. The colour, the ruffles, everything! The leather jacket dresses down the look, while keeping it polished and pretty. In a dream world, I would look exactly like this!

At twenty-three years old, Elizabeth Olsen showcases a stunning maturity in this breathtaking navy jacket. I love the bold collar, as well as the beautiful details. Her makeup also looks beautiful and elegant. That berry lip suits this look perfectly. Elizabeth embodies sophistication with this look!

Lastly, is my favourite gown from the Academy Awards this year. Michelle Williams completely hit it out of the park! The bold, beautiful colour of the gown perfectly compliments her skin tone. What I love most about this dress, are the exquisite details. From the bodice down to the train, every inch is perfectly crafted. The shape of the dress looks truly incredible on Michelle. She was by far the best dressed of the night, in my opinion!

what inspires you, what excites you when you wake up in the morning?

Jennifer Aniston is a classic beauty. When it comes to her red carpet style, she truly embodies this classic sophistication. At the premiere of her latest film, Wanderlust, Jennifer looked radiant.

The classic cut of the dress is simply perfect. I love the leather accents on the dress, and the subtle mixing of patterns to create a flattering silhouette. The zig-zag pattern along the side of the dress is just gorgeous! I also really love her simple gold accessories and basic black heel.

all photos are accurate. none of them is the truth.

One photograph can change your mood entirely. It can reveal a particular emotion, feeling, or hope.

When I came across the following photo of Lindsay Lohan, I was immediately taken by it. Of course I was enamored by the retro styling, but also the ease of the photograph. I love the position of the arms, and the sultry, powerful, yet resigned look in her eyes.

beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. that, or a kick-ass red lipstick.

When I came across Maybelline's Super Stay 10 Hour Stain Gloss, I was immediately intrigued. What girl doesn't want to have a sexy, kiss proof lip gloss that will last all night??

The stain gloss comes in ten different shades. (There are some really gorgeous, vibrant pink colours that I want to try out!) However, I went with Ravishing Red to start - nothing beats a gorgeous red lipstick!

The brush applicator was an interesting shape - small and flat, rather than rounded. It really helped the colour to go on evenly, which was great. The lip stain was very rich and glossy, and did in fact last all evening long without needing a touch up. The colour was bold, and the product didn't dry out my lips.

Overall, this is a fantastic product if you need something that is really going to last. And coming in under $10, you can't go wrong!

this is a ludicrous situation. i can think of a dozen men who are just longing to use my shower.

There were so many things I planned on posting about today, but things don't always go as planned. So, on a sleepy Sunday morning, I turned Audrey.

Charade is one of my favourite Audrey Hepburn films. With the electric presence of Audrey and Cary Grant, mystery, intrigue, and romance is in full swing.

The movie is set in Paris, as Audrey's character, Regina Lampert deals with the death of her husband. She is pursued by several men in search of money her husband had stolen. Deception and mystery fuel this thrilling and romantic film.

If all of that wasn't enough to make Charade fantastic, there is fashion to be considered! Audrey's classic elegance is on full display in this film. The bold and always stylish hats, sunglasses, scarves, and perfectly tailored jackets make every scene to die for!

it's the little details that are vital. little things make big things happen.

Phew! The last week or so has been a busy one! Between work, a social life, and a couple of concerts, I feel like I've only been home to sleep! With a packed schedule this weekend as well, I don't know when I'll have a chance to get caught up on everything. Here is hoping I will figure it out!

This post is dedicated to one of my favourite fashionable celebrities - Paris Hilton. She rocked the Grammy red carpet last week! I haven't been able to get her dress out of my head since I saw it. I love absolutely everything about it.

This dress stands about because of the fantastic beading on the dress. It creates a fantastic, flattering shape. The gold belt is another great detail! The angelic, light material toward the bottom of the gown is also wonderful. This dress is so elegant, but still unique and interesting.

im kind of a novelty, and im kind of a big deal.

Christian Siriano really is a big deal. From Project Runway to his latest collection, his talent is unmistakable.

Christian showcased his Fall 2012 collection earlier this week. The collection features cool greys, black, and burgundy. The pieces are both wearable, but still maintain Christian's signature dramatic flair. From leather jackets, to ruffled evening gowns, Christian Siriano's latest collection is simply wonderful.

What really stuck me about this collection was the combination of regal elegance and femininity with an almost gothic edge. Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection!

love is the only gold.

love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.

Tomorrow is February 14th - Valentine's Day. While there are many quick to point out the commercialization of this particular holiday, I love everything about it. Single or attached has never really mattered to me. I love the idea of romance, candy hearts, and cherishing those you love.

This year, I have a low-key Valentine's Day planned. Watching He's Just Not That Into You, eating far too many candy hearts, and good company. I can't help but be excited! This may be because I am a romantic. There is something so beautiful about the idea of love....which is why girly movies are a must!

Here are some of the pictures that have been inspiring me for Valentine's Day!

I leave you with my favourite poem, Love's Philosophy by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle;--
Why not I with thine?

See! the mountains kiss high heaven,
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister flower would be forgiven,
If it disdained it's brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea;--
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?

What are your Valentine's plans this year?

if you do fine embroidery, you can assemble a time fuse.

Bomb Girls is a Canadian mini-series that just ended it's first six episode run last week. High ratings for the show have made it the #1 New Canadian Original Drama of 2011/2012. Twelve more episodes have been ordered - very exciting news!

The show focuses on a group of women working in a munitions factory during the second world war. There is plenty of drama, from forbidden relationships to defying expectations, and claiming independence.

Another aspect of the show that makes it particularly interesting, is the incredible retro fashion. I have such a weakness for styles from this time period. The simple lines, the bold prints and colours.....perfection!

Have you been watching this show? What do you think about fashion from the 40s?
